Second Times a Charm

Rita in Emergency after being diagnosed with a broken shoulder

Rita and I planned to tour Spain as our 2016 big adventure.  We had been to Barcelona and the Island of Majorca in the past, which just whet our appetite to explore more of this historic and vibrant country. The plan was to depart on August 18th to visit her parents in Germany and help celebrate Rita's Mother's 80th birthday before heading over to Spain.  On August 11th, Rita was riding her bike along the seawall near Granville Market, hit a rut, fell of her bike and broke her shoulder.  The Doctors said she could not travel for 8 - 12 weeks.  We had to cancel our flights, accommodation, train tickets, car rental and sightseeing tours and focus on Rita's recovery.

Fast forward eight months and Rita's shoulder is 99% back to normal and we are heading for Germany to help celebrate Rita's Dad's 80th birthday this time.  Since we were already going to be in Europe, it made sense to resurrect last years tour of Spain.

The above map is from Rick Steves Spain book and shows the route flow and most of the places we will be visiting.  Rita and I will be traveling from Barcelona to Madrid, Toledo, Seville, Cordoba and Granada by train.  In Granada we will pick up a rental car and travel to Segovia, Salamanca, Santiago de Compostela, Leon, Burgos, Pamplona, San Sebastian and Balbao before flying back to Frankfurt. The trip we have planned will cover 43 days.  Looking forward to sharing our adventure with you.
